Wear It — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 August 2026
The short version
Your wardrobe photos never leave your phone. The only thing that does is an approximate location — not your exact position — sent to a weather service so the app knows what today looks like. There is no account, no analytics, no trackers, and no ads. We do not run a server for this app, so there is nowhere for your wardrobe to be sent even if we wanted it.
1. Who We Are
Wear It is a mobile app published by Olaverse Labs ("we", "us", or "our"), which also maintains this website at olaverse.co.uk. This policy covers the app only. Our website privacy policy covers olaverse.co.uk separately.
2. What Stays on Your Phone
Everything you put into Wear It is stored in the app's own storage on your device:
- The photos you take of your wardrobe.
- Whatever the app works out about each garment — its type, colour, and how warm it is.
- Which outfits you were shown, and what you have and have not worn recently, which is how the app avoids suggesting the same jumper every day.
Recognising your clothes happens on your device, using your phone's own processor. Your photos are not uploaded to us, and they are not sent to any third-party image or AI service. We never see them.
3. The One Thing That Leaves Your Device
The app needs to know today's weather to suggest something sensible, and weather comes from the internet. So when the app fetches a forecast, it sends an approximate location — rounded to your general area, not your precise position — to a third-party weather service.
Some specifics, because this is the part that matters:
- The request goes from your phone to the weather service directly. It does not pass through us, and we do not receive, log, or store your location.
- We do not collect precise GPS coordinates, and the app does not track your location in the background or build any history of where you have been.
- The weather service receives the approximate location and the fact that a forecast was requested. It handles that under its own privacy policy.
- If you decline location access, the app cannot tailor suggestions to the weather.
You can withdraw location access at any time in your device settings, and the app will stop requesting it.
4. Permissions the App Asks For
- Camera and photo library — so you can photograph your wardrobe or pick existing pictures. The app reads only the images you choose. It does not browse your photo library.
- Storage — to keep your wardrobe and wear history on the device.
- Location — approximate only, and only to fetch the weather, as described above.
- Notifications — so the app can give you the morning suggestion.
Every one of these is optional and can be changed in your device settings at any time. Declining a permission disables the feature that needs it; it does not stop the rest of the app from working.
5. Notifications
The morning suggestion is scheduled by your phone's own operating system. It is a local notification: no push server is involved, and no device token is sent to us. Your phone delivers the reminder to itself.
6. What We Never Collect
- No account. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or a password, because there is nothing to sign in to.
- No analytics or crash reporting. There is no analytics SDK, no crash reporter, and no telemetry in the app. We do not know how often you open it or what it suggested.
- No advertising identifiers. We do not read your IDFA, Android Advertising ID, or any other device identifier.
- No contacts, microphone, or health data. The app does not request these permissions.
- No selling or sharing. We do not sell, rent, share, or trade your information, and we never have.
If we ever add advertising, analytics, or any feature that sends more off your device, we will update this policy and the app's App Store privacy disclosures before that version ships, not after.
7. Device Backups
If you have iCloud Backup or Google's device backup switched on, your phone's backup may include this app's data, wardrobe photos included, along with everything else on the device. That backup is created and held by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies and encryption. We have no access to it and no involvement in it. You can control this in your device settings.
8. Deleting Your Data
You are in full control, and you do not need to ask us:
- Remove an individual garment inside the app to delete that item and its photo.
- Delete the app from your phone to remove all of it at once. Uninstalling removes the app's local storage.
There is no "delete my account" request to send us, and no copy on our side to erase. This also means we cannot recover your wardrobe if you delete the app or lose your phone.
9. If You Email Us
The one case where we do receive personal information is when you choose to contact us. If you email us for support, we receive your email address and whatever you write. We use it only to reply, we keep it only as long as needed to resolve the matter and for basic records, and we do not add you to a mailing list.
10. Children
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone — children included — since the app sends us none.
11. App Stores
Downloading the app is a transaction between you and Apple or Google. They collect their own data about downloads, purchases, and crashes under their own policies, which we do not control. Any crash reports Apple or Google share with us are aggregated and provided by the platform, not gathered by the app.
12. Changes to This Policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page, and we will do so before shipping any app version that changes what data is handled.

Appendix: Legal Detail
The sections above are the whole picture in plain English. This appendix restates the same facts in the formal terms that data protection law uses, for anyone who needs them.
A. Controller and Scope
For the purposes of the UK GDPR and EU GDPR, the controller is Olaverse Labs, contactable at contact@olaverse.co.uk. Your wardrobe photos and wear history are processed entirely on your own device and are never transmitted to us, so they are not personal data under our control. The approximate location used for weather is sent by your device directly to a third-party weather service, which acts as its own controller for that request; we neither receive nor retain it. The only personal data we act as controller for is correspondence you send us directly.
B. Lawful Basis for Processing
- Wardrobe photos and wear history: no lawful basis is required of us, as we carry out no processing. Processing on your own device, under your sole control, is not processing by us.
- Approximate location for weather: consent (Article 6(1)(a)), given through your device's location permission prompt and withdrawable at any time in device settings.
- Email correspondence: legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) — responding to a request you chose to send us.
C. Your Rights Under UK and EU GDPR
You have the right to request access to your personal data, and its rectification, erasure, restriction, or portability, and to object to processing. In practice, for your wardrobe these rights are exercised directly on your device, since we hold no copy: you already have full access, and deleting a garment or the app is immediate erasure. Withdrawing location permission stops the only ongoing transmission the app makes.
For any email correspondence you have sent us, you can exercise all of these rights by writing to contact@olaverse.co.uk. We respond within one month, as required.
If you believe we have handled your personal data unlawfully, you may complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or to your national supervisory authority if you are in the EEA.
D. United States State Privacy Rights
Under laws including the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA, and the comprehensive privacy laws of states such as Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, and Texas, we disclose the following:
- Categories of personal information we collect through the app: none. Photographs and wear history remain on your device and are not collected by us.
- Sensitive personal information: none. We do not collect precise geolocation. The approximate location used for weather is sent by your device to a weather provider and is not received by us.
- Sold or shared for cross-context behavioural advertising: none. We have never sold or shared personal information, and we do not process it for targeted advertising or profiling.
- Sources: the only personal information we receive is what you send us directly by email.
- Retention: email correspondence only, for as long as needed to handle your enquiry.
You may exercise your rights of access, correction, deletion, and appeal by emailing contact@olaverse.co.uk. We will not discriminate against you for doing so. Because we hold no personal information from the app itself, a request about app data will be answered by confirming that we hold none.
E. International Transfers
Your wardrobe is not transferred anywhere: it stays on your device. The weather request your device makes may be served by infrastructure outside the UK and EEA, under the weather provider's own transfer safeguards. Email you send us is handled by our email provider in the course of ordinary email delivery.
F. Security
Your wardrobe photos are protected by your device's own security — its passcode, biometrics, and platform encryption. We recommend keeping a device passcode enabled, since anyone who can unlock your phone can open the app. No system is perfectly secure, but the app's design means a breach of our systems cannot expose your wardrobe, because it is not there.
G. Automated Decision-Making
The app picks an outfit for you each morning based on the garments you photographed, what you have worn recently, and the day's weather. That decision is computed on your device. It is not automated decision-making producing legal or similarly significant effects, and it does not involve profiling by us.
